Acclaimed saxophonist Woody Witt is thrilled to announce the release of his latest CD, “Awakening.” Recorded in São Paulo with an exceptional Brazilian band, “Awakening” is a vibrant exploration of modern jazz infused with traditional Brazilian rhythms and melodies.
“Awakening” features a blend of original compositions by Woody Witt and pianist Felipe Silveira, as well as lesser-known gems from the Brazilian songbook. The album channels the energy of Miles Davis’s mid-60s quintet while embracing the rich tapestry of Brazilian musical traditions, creating a sound that is both timeless and refreshingly contemporary.
